All I Do is Chop Life – D’Banj Breaks Silence After Release From ICPC Over alleged N- Power project Fraud

Popular Singer, D.Banj has broken silence after his release from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) after three days of questioning.

D.banj who was released on Friday, December 9 described the arrest as “misconceived, mischievous and prejudicial to the justice system anywhere in the world.”

It should be recalled that D’Banj was arrested on Tuesday night December 6, when he visited the Commission to answer questions bordering on his alleged involvement in the fraudulent diversion of money earmarked by the Federal government for the N-Power project, an empowerment program set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

The ‘Oliver Twist’ crooner, alongside the corrupt government officials, were said to have introduced ghost beneficiaries into the payroll of the funds, and the monies were later traced to accounts associated with the singer.

In a post shared on his Instagram page yesterday, D’Banj stated that he has no business with fraud. The post reads;

“Global thank you to the world. I was invited on an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with All I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth. I have no business with fraud, all I do is chop life. I was released on self recognition because nothing was seen or found on me. God bless you all my people”.

Meanwhile, an eleven-point statement released yesterday, through his lawyer, Maryam Musa, stated that, the Artiste urged the commission to carry out its investigation thoroughly to ensure that characters attempting to bring him into such ridiculous activities will be brought to book.

The statement reads: “The media is awash with reports of Oladapo Oyebanjo, Dbanj, in ICPC custody, with regard to unestablished allegations of fraud for which it has become crucial to make the following statement, for the purpose of clarity and to set public records straight.

“It is instructive to state foremost that the report concerning the arrest and detention of Oyebanjo is misconceived, malicious and prejudicial to the justice system anywhere in the world, and we would advise that the general public be well guided.

“We acknowledge the fact that the ICPC is currently investigating allegations of diversion of N-Power funds, as already stated by the commission and we continue to hold the expectation that the commission will stay the course of professionalism in this matter,” part of the statement read.
