2023: We will take Nigeria from consuming nation to producing nation, hails Afenifere Leader – Obi
The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has assured Nigerians that he will boost the nation’s agricultural system so well that Nigerians will have enough food resources for consumption and also export to other Countries if he becomes President comes 2023.
Obi declared this during his campaign rally as Labour Party presidential candidate on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital.
The presidential campaign team of the Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi was led by The acting Chairman of the Pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo alongside other notable Nigerians.
According to the Afenifere leader, ” in the spirit of fairness, it should be the turn of the southeast to be the next president of Nigeria in line with the agreement of past Nigerian leaders in 1954 that each geopolitical zone should produce president, while they operate as a regional governments”.
Pa Ayo Adebanjo noted that, both north, southwest and south-south have produced presidents for the country, while southeast has not been given the opportunity to steer the ship of the country.
While talking about the ambition of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Adebanjo, recalled that before Tinubu became the governor of Lagos State, he had supported him on several occasions during his two-term administration.
He said “When Tinubu was the governor of Lagos State, I did not hate him then, why will I have a cause to now hate him? Tinubu cannot confront me on this, but only people that are benefiting from him that speaks ills of me,” Adebanjo said.
The Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr.Peter Obi while addressing the Crowd reaffirmed his commitment to ensure a secured and united Nigeria adding he would create wealth for Nigerians if elected president in 2023.
He stressed that the unity and security of this nation is very crucial in addressing problems confronting the nation.
The Labour Party Presidential candidate who highlighted the challenges of the country, which ranged from unemployment, drug abuse and others, added that the challenges could be addressed by prioritising the production sector of the economy
He said “By moving the country from consumption to production, you are moving people away from poverty and the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you address criminality”.
He charged that voting should not be based on religion or tribe but the capacity of the candidates to address prevailing challenges facing the nation
“We cannot use the process of yesterday or those who did not solve it yesterday for tomorrow.” he said.
Obi also noted that if elected, he would be in-charge of the country with the required energy and sound mental health.
He also promised to address increasing debt profile of the country as well as engage youths in addressing the problems of Nigeria.
