Woman’s Death at Prophet Taiwo Ojo’s Church More Than a Year Ago Sparks Family Reaction as They Petition the IGP
Moshood Aderonmu, a 35-year-old man, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to look into the circumstances surrounding the death of his mother, Mrs. Ayisat Aderonmu, who unexpectedly passed away in an Ibadan church more than a year ago.
In a November 20 petition submitted to the IGP through his attorney, Mr. Jonathan Ekperusi, Aderonmu and his family claimed that his mother was invited by the suspect, Prophet Taiwo Ojo, who owns CAC Covenant of Mercy, for a program on October 29, 2023, and that she and three other people were killed, with her body found in the morgue.
“It is our clients’ strong belief that there was no autopsy report to ascertain the actual cause of the death, and the investigation into the matter by the Oyo State Police was shoddily handled and compromised; hence, we want a fresh investigation into the case,” the petition sent to the IGP and made available to the media reads in part.
Meanwhile the family has also sent the copy of the petition to a human rights group for assistance, bearing in mind the huge influence of the suspect in the case, Prophet Taiwo Ojo.
