The Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for Oyo, Osun States, and environs, Alhaji Bukola Mutiu, has clarified that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has not issued an official directive to peg the price of petrol at ₦897 per litre.

Alhaji Mutiu made this statement amidst observations that some NNPCL retail fuel stations in Abuja have adjusted their pumps to reflect the new price.

“As of now, we have not received any official memo from NNPCL directing independent marketers to set the price of petrol at ₦897 per litre,” he said.

He added that IPMAN is awaiting guidance from NNPCL on the next course of action regarding the new pump price. Alhaji Mutiu also revealed that private depots have stopped selling petrol to independent marketers.

“We are waiting for further instructions from NNPCL before making any adjustments,” he emphasized.

This development comes as Nigerians await clarity on the revised petrol pricing amid fuel scarcity concerns.
