CAN : Failure to sanction Religion Leaders with undignified character keeps humiliating the body of Christ – Rev Solomon Aremu
..set to Commission Multi Million Naira Ultra Modern Cathedral in Ibadan.
The Presiding Bishop, Christ The Light Ministry (Inc), Ibadan, Bishop Solomon Olusegun Aremu has called on Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Leadership to be more proactive in ensuring that discipline is instilled in Christian Leaders so as not to bring ridicule and humiliation to the body of Christ.
Bishop Aremu made this call while interacting with leadership of the Nigeria Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ), Oyo State Chapter at the new Ultra Modern Cathedral of the ministry located at Ologuneru, Ibadan.
The Cleric while addressing the members of NACJ noted that the creation of the Association this period is divine call stating that the formation of the Association in Oyo State will tremendously spread the gospel of Christ through effective use of mass media tools.
Bishop Aremu expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation of the body of Christ saying many men of God have lost focus of their calls due to material needs and selfish ambition which has resulted to loss of values that used to be known with Christiandom.
The Man of God disclosed how failure of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) gave birth to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) saying CAN has derailed from its primary mandate as the umbrella body of all churches in Nigeria comprising the body of Christ and that’s why some Christians who are not satisfied with CAN mode of operation came together and created the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
He emphasised on the need for CAN leadership to be more proactive in ensuring high level of discipline among Christian Leaders so as to discourage some degrading acts that is now common among Christian Leaders and also prevents those that see them as role model from towing same route.
Bishop Aremu stressed that the leadership of Christian bodies in Nigeria are loosing values due the undignified acts that should not be heard of among Christians thereby emphasising the need for Christian leadership to be more proactive towards instilling discipline in Christian Leaders
“Churches are no longer what we used to know, many churches have departed from the side of truth and the real teachings of Christ thereby operating churches like business Ventures whose major aims is to make profits and enjoy the worldly gains.
Describing his over 33 year experience in the gospel ministry as very adventurous and eventful, Rev Aremu disclosed that his vast experience on and off the pulpit in his journey with God has thought him vital lessons which include total submission to God’s will, unshakable faith in God’s provisions, unwavering trust in, dedication, and commitment to God’s work saying “I love to move closer to God step by step, I do not engage in anything He has not allowed me to do concerning the ministry.”
Speaking on the new ultra modern cathedral of the church set to be commissioned on Saturday, 30th of September, 2023, Bishop Aremu said the project which began fourteen years ago will assist in the spread of the gospel and bring more souls to Christ.
On why the project was delayed, the Cleric said “for me, my watchword is slow and steady win the race. I’m a preacher of the true gospel of Christ and will continue to preach only the truth. We worked on the cathedral with our little stipend and with assistance of those God used for us. We are not in competition with anyone to build a cathedral but go as the Lord was directing and guiding us.”
Bishop Aremu appreciated leadership of NACJ for their support towards the spread of the gospel and called on Christian bodies in the State to assist the Association so as to achieve the realisation of it’s objective.
He called on Nigerians to be more prayerful especially for our leaders so that they can guide us right and rule with the fear of God saying the only solution for the current economic hardship is God’s interference.
Earlier, the Chairman, NACJ, Oyo State, Lekan Shobo Shobowale described Bishop Aremu as a true man of God who despite all odds stand firm to be an exemplary role model for Christians by sticking to the right teachings of Christ and do not at anytime deviate from the teachings of Christ.
