The Vice – President, Collaboration and Linkages, Engineer Ademola Agoro has explained that the suitable palliatives in this critical economic situation is empowering Youths through Artificial Intelligence so as to enjoy a lifetime benefits associated with the innovation.
Agoro who disclosed this while speaking with National Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ), Oyo State Chapter in Ibadan stressed the need for government to properly research on economic needs of the citizens and train them on the new trends of technology and Artificial intelligence so as to empower the people and prepare them for future challenges.
According to him ” Nigeria is one of the blessed Countries considering its enormous mineral resources that can make it stand out among other Countries but Nigeria’s major problem is its dependency on importation of various goods rather than manufacturing them .
He added that, government at all levels needs to increase its effort in ensuring that Nigeria has lot of manufacturing companies and gives them the necessary support and facilities to thrive.
“Artificial Intelligence in no time will be utilised by all sectors of the economy and it is therefore important that Experts and Professionals in various fields get acquited with how they could use AI to enhance their jobs”.
The Engineering guru opined that with the current development in Artificial Intelligence, every sector ranging from Administration, Health, Agriculture, Education, Logistics, Tourism, Law, Engineering, Journalism and other fields will be impacted and those who refused to go with the innovation may become outdated and fail to match up with the recent technological advancement.
Engineer Agoro hinted on his plans to establish an empowerment hub with a view to training youths on Artificial Intelligence skills, such as coding, programming and fintech to groom future tech giants for Nigeria.
The Nigeria foremost Electricity meter supplier said his Company is planning to organise a training programme tagged ( Train-the -Trainer) and presently building a hundred room vocational centre to house the trainees when the programme officially commence.
He concluded that the most effective way to reduce the high rate of poverty in our economy is for government to initiate empowerment programmes that will educate and enlighten people on how they can use their skills and potentials to better their lives and add values to people’s lives saying distribution of food items alone is not enough to quench the hardship Nigerians are facing.
