House of Reps Invites CBN Governor Again over new cash withdrawal policy
....gives two day ultimatum to show before it
The House of Representatives has given the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele two days ultimatum to appear before it and brief the lawmakers on the new cash withdrawal policy limit.
The ultimatum was given on Tuesday at the plenary when the speaker read Emefiele’s letter which explains why he could not appear before the house.
The Green Chamber had on December 15, 2022 summoned Emefiele to come and explain the new policy on cash withdrawal but he had failed to honour the invitation.
It was gathered that the Lawmakers frowned at the CBN governor’s refusal to appear before it to explain to Nigerians on the new cash policy, saying it is disrespectful.
Following this development, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila suggested that the house invite the CBN governor or his deputy to appear and give details of the new cash withdrawal policy .
