The Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor has disclosed that over 300,000 hostages have been freed so far while recounting the successes and contributions of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to national development and identity.
Irabor who gave this charge while featuring at the weekly briefing organized by the presidential communication team at the Aso rock villa, enjoined the media industry in Nigeria to keep the public informed with balanced coverage.
Further recounting achievements, the CDS hinted that the Nigerian Armed Forces over the years have sustained unprecedented achievements through enhanced force structure, technology, conduct of kinetic and non-kinetic operations and procurement of new platforms.
While reiterating the non-partisan stance of the armed forces towards the 2023 general elections, the Defense Chief assured of the Forces’ contingency plans to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 2023 polls in conjunction with other security agencies and support of INEC.
